A position exists for the right candidate to fill the role of WELLNESS CHAMPION in a South Auckland intermediate school. This School Community Worker (SCW) will have a passion to support people and a desire to help them build resilience and develop skills required to face the pressures of life in the 21st Century.
The SCW will head up our wellness programme called eXTEND which is being trialled in 3 Auckland schools. This position could be either full time or part time with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
The successful candidate will need to have access to their own vehicle when one is required, but generally will be based at the school. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated experience, working with youth and/or family as this support role extends to students, staff and parents/caregivers.
The eXTEND Youth Development Programme is a comprehensive response to the state of our nation's youth wellbeing. The programme uses an acclaimed Social and Emotional Learning curriculum that is being used effectively in over 90 countries. The SCW will support and resource the teaching staff of the school who have all been trained to deliver this programme. The SCW will also be responsible for creating links to parents/caregivers/whanau and linking students and whanau to other resources and support groups in the wider community. The SCW will also mentor specific students as referred by school leaders and, where appropriate, establish a connection to the family/whanau.
The successful applicant will be supported by a fun and friendly team from CrossNet and from the school. Training and supervision will be provided. An attractive salary will be paid that is commensurate with this role.
