welcometooursite.
CrossNet is a registered charity led by volunteers and professionals who have been serving East Auckland for over 25 years (previously as The Sowers' Trust).  We believe in community led initiatives and so we facilitate volunteers to work alongside professionals to provide the support needed to maintain a healthy community.  Our slogan says it all: Community serving Community.  Our experience is that, contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of volunteers who have a heart for the needs of their community.  They just need to be organised, led and, when necessary, trained.  That is the role of CrossNet.

YOUTH
CrossNet has been heavily focused on youth work for over 25 years operating our COMMUNITY YOUTH WORKER programme.  Through this initiative CrossNet  has trained, supervised and supported 11 community youth workers, (partnering with local schools).  Programmes include social events, leadership and life skill training, and one-on-one mentoring.  Youth Workers are working towards a qualification in Community Service with Wellington Polytechnic.

Our current emphasis is to work with school leaders to implement Schoolwide Social & Emotional Wellbeing programmes using the internationally acclaimed life skills curriculum, Lions Quest: Skills for Adolescence.

PARENTS, CAREGIVERS, WHANAU
A feature of our SSEW (Schoolwide Social & Emotional Wellbeing) programme is the strong links built to the wider community and, in particular, to parents and caregivers.

Wellbeing of our children and teens is the the responsibility of us all and we facilitate the important role played by those outside of the school community.

SENIORS

The trust operates one of the largest seniors programmes in East Auckland which has been a feature of the community for over 30 years.  The programme includes regular social events, pastoral care, advice services and crisis support.

The Golden Age Seniors Club meets every week at the Howick Bridge Club and a transport service is available to those in need.  Highlights of these club gatherings include movies  at the local cinema,  BBQ at the beach, bus trips and the many great entertainers who attend.

There's always good coffee and food and great social interaction.  The club is run by a committed team of volunteers drawn from the community.
